Abstract

A forgeable ferritic alloy steel possessing high creep resistance at least up to 700 DEG C, comprises 0.05-0.5 per cent carbon, 4-20 per cent chromium, 0.5-3 per cent molybdenum and/or tungsten, 0.2-2.5 per cent iridium, 0.05-0.25 per cent nitrogen, 0.003 -0.5 per cent borax and 0.1-2 per cent vanadium, nickel not being present in quantity more than 1.5 per cent. The steel may also include up to 3 per cent silicon, up to 4 per cent manganese and up to 10 per cent cobalt.
