Abstract

1381173 Ferritic stainless steel AIRCO Inc 17 Oct 1972 [29 Oct 1971] 47814/72 Heading C7A A ferritic steel characterized by a Ductile- Brittle transition temperature substantially below 100‹F and a high resistance to intergranular corrosion consists by weight of: Chromium 20-35% Molybdenum 0À75%-1À2% Silicon 0À1-0À3% Phosphorus up to 0À02% Sulphur up to 0À02% Carbon up to 0À003% Nitrogen 0À005 to 0À0125% and Columbium from 0À05% to 29 times the nitrogen content, and the remainder substantially all iron. A ferritic steel of the above composition, when air cooled from 1800‹F has a Ductile-Brittle transition temperature of room temperature or less. Impurities nickel, copper and cobalt may be present up to 0À25% in total.
