Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the low alloy steel for a rotor provided with especially excellent temper brittleness resistance containing C, Mn, Si, Ni, Cr, Mo, V, Nb and Ca in a predetermined ratio respectively.
CONSTITUTION: The low alloy steel for a rotor comprises, on the wt. basis, 0.15W0.35% C, 0.2W0.5% Mn, 0.01W0.2% Si, 3.0W5.5% Ni, 0.5W2.0% Cr, 0.1W 1.0% Mo, 0.05W0.2% V, 0.01W0.1% Nb, 0.005W0.05% Ca and the remainder of Fe and inevitable impurities. That is, said low allow steel is the one comprising further containing Nb and Ca in a composition of 3.5 Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel which is a conventional rotor material in the aforementioned ratio respectively and a turbine rotor having high strength and high toughness as well as excellent in temper brittleness resistance is obtained. Therefore, even if the turbine rotor is made large, practical use is enabled sufficiently.
