Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a low pressure rotor for a steam turbine consisting of a prescribed percentage each of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, V and Ca and the balance essentially Fe and having high strength, high toughness and especially superior temper embrittlement resistance.
CONSTITUTION: This low pressure rotor for a steam turbine consists of, by weight, 0.15W0.35% C, ≤0.1% Si, 0.1W0.5% Mn, 3.5W6.0% Ni, 1.2W2.5% Cr, 0.1W1.0% Mo, 0.05W0.2% V, 0.001W0.02% Ca and the balance essentially Fe. By using steel having said composition, the low pressure rotor has improved temper embrittlement resistance and strength without deteriorating high toughness characteristic of conventional Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel.
