Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a nonmagnetic high Mn-Cr steel with superior stress corrosion cracking resistance by adding prescribed ranges of C, Si, Mn, Cr, V and N.
CONSTITUTION: This nonmagnetic high Mn-Cr steel consists of 0.05W0.18% C, ≤1% Si, 16W25% Mn, 14W17% Cr, 0.3W0.6% V, 0.3W0.6% N and the balance Fe. To increase the strength 0.1W1% in total of one or more among Ti, Nb and Zr may be added besides said components. This steel is suitable for use as the material of a holding ring for a power generating rotor.
