Abstract

An austenitic steel alloy, particularly for use as superheater tubing, has a composition, in per cent by weight, within the following range: .Cr.12.0-18.0 .Ni.6.0-10.0 .Mn.3.0-10.0 .C.0.05-0.25 .B.0.005-0.5 Nb with or without V up to 2.0 total, Nb being at least 0.25 Mo with or without W up to 4.0 total, Mo being at least 0.5 Fe, and impurities and incidental elements commonly present in Cr-Ni steels, the remainder.
