Abstract

A low alloy steel has the following composition: .C.0.08-0.14% .S.not exceeding 0.045% .Si.not exceeding 0.5% .P.not exceeding 0.035% .Mn.1.0-1.5% .Nb.0.02-0.1% .Al.0.02-0.3% the balance being iron plus usual steel making impurities. Ni may replace up to 1% of the iron and Cu may be present in the range 0.2-0.5%. Ta may also be present along with the Nb.
