Abstract
A high strength, corrosion resistant steel has the following composition: C 0.05-0.25 per cent, P 0.06-0.20 per cent, Cu 0.15-2.00 per cent, Si 0.01-1.50 per cent, Ti 0.03-0.18 per cent, Fe and the usual impurities constituting the remainder. The steel may also contain less than 1.0 per cent of Mn, up to 0.05 per cent of S and any one or two of the elements Mo, Cr, and Ni in the following proportions: Mo 0.05-1.50 per cent, Cr 0.16-1.5 per cent, Ni 0.25-2.5 per cent. When the three elements are used together their proportions are Mo 0.05-0.75 per cent, Cr 0.25-1.5 per cent, Ni 0.25-1.5 per cent.
