Abstract

An alloy steel having high strength at elevated temperatures consists of the following percentages :-.15 to .35 C., .40 to 3.00 Mn, .40 to 2.00 Si, 18.00 to 23.00 Cr, 8.00 to 20.00 Ni, .75 to 2.00 W., .75 to 2.00 Mo, .15 to 1.50 Nb, .10 to 1.00 Ti, with or without up to .04 of S and up to .04 of P, the balance being iron which may contain the usual impurities. In an example the respective elements are :-.28 C, .75 Mn, .55 Si, .19 Cr, 9Ni, 1.25 W, 1.25 Mo, .30 Nb and .25 Ti. The Nb content may include 8 per cent of Ta.
