Abstract

Ductile niobium alloys having high strength and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures have compositions within the p following percentage range: Cr 5.0-35.0; Ti 5.0-30.0; Nb, at least 50, the balance. The Nb may include Ta as an impurity up to 5 per cent. Reference is made, for comparative purposes, to alloys of the following compositions: (a) Co 38 per cent, Ni 28 per cent, Cr 20 per cent, W 7 per cent, Ti 4 per cent, Fe 2 per cent, C 0.2 per cent; (b) Co 42 per cent, Ni 20 per cent, Cr 20 per cent, W 4.2 per cent, Nb 4 per cent, Mo 4 per cent, Fe 3 per cent, Mn 1.3 per cent, Si 0.6 per cent, C 0.4 per cent.
