Abstract

A nickel based alloy comprises .Ni.55-62% .Cr.20-24% .Mo.7-11% .Nb.3-4.5% .C.\sO 0.2% .W.0-8% .Si.0-0.5% .Mn.0-0.5% .B.0-0.015% the balance, apart from residual deoxidizing agent, being iron and the total content of Ti and Al, if present, being not more than 0.4%. Tantalum, introduced as an impurity in the niobium, may be present in amounts up to one-seventh of the niobium content. Impurities may be present as follows:- .Mg.0.02-0.05% .S.up to 0.02% .Cu.up to 0.1% .P.up to 0.025% .N.up to 0.03% The alloys may be cast, forged and annealed at 1038 DEG C. for one hour. Specification 881,845 is referred to.
