Abstract

An age hardenable martensitic stainless steel alloy for manufacturing aircraft or missile parts contains: .C.traces-0.05%, .Mn.traces-0.25%, .Si.traces-0.25%, .Cr.10-18%, .Ni.0.1-7%, .Co.3-16%, .Mo.0.1-8%, .Ti.0.1-1.3%, one or more of Ca, B, Zr, each from 0 to 0.1%, balance Fe with incidental impurities. Ingots of the alloy may be hot rolled and subjected to annealing at 1500-2100 DEG F., with or without cold rolling prior to ageing at 600-1100 DEG F. for at least 4 hours.
