Abstract

1306415 Stainless steel UGINE KUHLMANN 29 May 1970 [3 June 1969] 26142/70 Heading C7A Semi-ferritic stainless steel, contains 10-50% austenite in the hot state, comprises:- the balance, apart from impurities (e.g. P), being Fe, and has a Cr equiv [defined as %Cr + %Si + %Mo + 4(%Ti + %Nb] and a Ni equiv [defined as %Ni + %Mn/z + %Cu/z + %Co + 20(%C + %N)] which fall within the area ABCDEA of the Fig. The alloy may be heated at 700‹-900‹C, then (a) slowly cooled (e.g. at a rate of 25‹ C/hr down to 650‹C and then air cooled), or (b) sub-zero treatment (e.g. at -80‹C) or (c) cold worked at ambient temperatures (e.g. with a reduction of 30%), and then annealed at below 850‹C.
