Abstract

An iron-nickel-chromium alloy comprises:- Cr 14-21% such that Cr is at least 18% when Mo does not exceed 6À5% and is not greater than 20% when the Mo content is 10% Co 0-12% C 0-0À2% Mn 0-1% # 0-1À25% Si 0-0À5% # Ti 0-0À7% Al 0-0À7% Nb 0-2% Ta 0-2% V 0-1% Cu 0-1% W 0-1% Ca/Mg 0-0À15% such that the Ca content is at least 0À001 when Mo does not exceed 7À5%, the balance, apart from impurities e.g. (P, O, S and N), being iron. The alloys may be hot worked at 1205-1260 C. down to 980-870 C. annealed at 1095 -1260 C. and optionally cold worked.
