Abstract
1320418 Alloy steel INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 7 Oct 1970 [13 Oct 1969] 47698/70 Heading C7A Alloy steel comprises:- C 0À06-0À15% Mo 0À6-1À5% Ni 4-8% Nb #0À02-0À15% V #with C + Nb+V no more than 0À24% Al up to 0À15% Cr up to 0À5%, but no more than 0À2% Cr when the C content is 0À12-0À15% Cu up to 1À75% Mn up to 0À8% P up to 0À02% S up to 0À02% and Si up to 0À5% the balance, apart from impurities with H, N, O P and S being kept as low as possible and residual deoxidants, being Fe. The steel ingots may be soaked at 1090-1260‹C. for 2-4 hours, forged or hot-rolled, the latter with an initiating temperature of 843-1040‹ C. and a finishing temperature of 730-1010‹ C. and then cooled in air or water. The products may be solution treated at 815-1095‹C. for 0À5-3 hours, quenched and then aged at 425-620‹C. for 0À5-12 hours. Any cold forming should be effected prior to ageing.
