Abstract

An Al-base alloy for use at elevated temperatures has a composition within the following range .Mg.0,05 - 0,7 per cent .Cu.5,0 - 13,0 per cent .Mn.0,2 - 1,7 per cent .V.0,05 - 0,2 per cent .Zr.0,05 - 0,3 per cent .Fe.up to 0,75 per cent .Si.up to 0,4 per cent .Al.the remainder the alloy being solution treated at 960 DEG -1020 DEG F. for 1-24 hours, quenched and precipitation-hardened at 350 DEG -450 DEG F. for 1-50 hours. The alloy may also contain 0,01-0,25 per cent in total of one or more of the elements Co, Ni, Mo, W, Cr, Ti, B, Ta and Nb.
