699,228. Annealing-furnaces. WESTFALISCHE DRAHTINDUSTRIE. May 8, 1952 [May 10, 1951], No. 11649(52. Addition to 682,114. Class 51(ii) In an annealing furnace of the type claimed and described in the parent Specification combustion chambers are disposed between the burner and the tunnel. In the furnace shown the wires or strips to be annealed are drawn through channels or tubes 1 in the direction of the arrow 2. Near the exit end of the furnace are disposed burners 3, 4, 5, the combustion gases of which have to flow through combustion chambers 6, 7, 8, before they reach the channels 1. After traversing the channels in counter-current to the movement of the material being annealed the gases are drawn into a chimney by the aid of a fan via channels 9, 10, each of the channels 1 being individually connected by a channel 9 with the channel 10. Valves 11 provided in. the channels 9 regulate the gas flow there along and therefore the temperature in each channel 1.
