Abstract
In the production of hardboard by heating a board of compressed wood fibre in hot air or flue gas having a temperature above 160 C., the gas is supplied at high velocity to both sides of the board in the form of uniformly spaced jets at right angles to the board. The process may be operated continuously or batchwise. As shown, board in the form of uniformly spaced jets at per and lower blower boxes 3 and 4, respectively, lower box 4 having nozzles 16. If upper rollers are employed, upper box 3 also has nozzles (not shown). Air is heated by means of heaters 10 and circulated by means of a fan 8. Gases generated during the heating are removed through a flue 12.
