Abstract
Articles are enamelled by a process in which the heating is effected for a short duration solely on the surface where the enamel is to be fused to it, while the bodies of the articles are not heated throughout, by means of radiant heat supplied from a series of radiant panel heaters placed at an adjustable distance from the articles, which are carried past the heaters at an adjustable speed. The temp. of the surface is heated to 980-1020 degrees C and the heating effect penetrates to a depth of 0.5-2 mm. The heating costs are reduced. Process is readily adjustable according to the size and type of the articles to be enamelled, hence the need for several different sets of enamel heating plant is avoided.
