809,217. Sewing machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 24, 1955 [Nov. 29, 1954], No. 21177/57. Divided out of 808,351. Class 112 In a lock-stitch sewing machine having a rotary loop-taker carrying a stationary bobbin case the underside of the throatplate 52 is milled away at 329 to provide a bobbin-thread retaining means in the form of an abutment shoulder 330 for maintaining the work limb of the bobbin thread at the extreme left-hand side of the needle aperture 270. The machine may have a laterally vibrating needle or a single needle which reciprocates vertically only; in the latter case the needle aperture is circular. When two needles are employed the construction prevents the formation of hitch stitches. The bobbin case has a bobbin thread guide disposed eccentrically of the loop-taker axis and at the same side of the needle aperture as the shoulder 330.
