Abstract
920,926. Sewing; sewing-machines. ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS BEYROUX, and M. MEUNIER. Dec. 8, 1961 [Dec. 8, 1960], No. 44060/61. Class 112. A stitched seam is made by locking thread loops with fibrous material derived from the surface of the work being sewn. As shown, fabric 1 is sewn to wadding 2 by a needle 5 which passes through an aperture 4 in the work support 3. A hooked member 16, pivoted at 18 beneath the work support, swings clockwise to pass through the loop 19 of thread 7 formed by the needle, and also through the aperture 4 to engage the wadding 3. When member 16 swings counter-clockwise, its hooked end draws some fibres 22 through the loop 19 to lock the latter when the thread 7, which passes horizontally through the needle bar 6, is tightened when the needle bar rises. When the work is of non- fibrous material, a ribbon of fibrous material is fed beneath the work past the stitching point.
