Abstract

821,702. Sewing machines. TEXTIMAPROJECT. VEB., [formerly KONSTRUKTION UND ENTWICKLUNG FUR TEXTILMASCHINEN VEB.]. July 5, 1956, No. 20818/56. Class 112 Tufting machines; loose stitching. In the manufacture of pile fabrics or carpets, two foundation fabrics 4, 5 are fed in spaced apart relationship to the needles 3 which pierce and pass the pile threads 1 through both fabrics. The pile loops are engaged on the underside of the lower fabric by loopers 8 with or "without "an additional thread to produce a simple or two-thread chain stitch. Alternatively the under thread is inserted by a shuttle. The pile threads are cut between the fabrics by a device 9 to separate the fabrics which are then wound on separate beams. The backs of the fabrics are sized or gummed to bond the loops thereto. This bonding may be effected before cutting the threads in which case the device 9 is omitted from the machine and the separation is effected elsewhere.
