Abstract

1,008,179. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. Sept. 7, 1964 [Sept. 9, 1963], No. 36571/64. Heading D1G. In a sewing machine rotary hook, a needle guard is made adjustable relatively to the loopseizing point and hook body. A rotary hook body 7, secured adjustably by a screw 9 to a rotary shaft 5, has a beak 10 formed with a point 11 for seizing the loop of thread T thrown by the rising needle 3. A guard member 25, having a needle-deflecting tongue 40, is formed with a groove 34 engaged by a tongue 31 on a support member 26 to permit of adjustment of member 25 transverse to the axis of shaft 5. Members 25 and 26 are secured together in adjusted position by a screw 35 passing through a slot 36 in member 25. Member 26 is secured to hook body 7 by a screw 29 passing through a slot 28 in member 26 to permit adjustment of the latter axially of shaft 5. Specification 955,646 is referred to.
