808,355. Sewing machines. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 24, 1955 [Nov. 29, 1954], No. 20635/57. Divided out of 808,351. Class 112 The needle bar 10 of a zig-zag machine is carried in bearing sleeves 195, 187 which make ball and socket joints with the needle bar gate 124 and a frame portion 188. The gate is oscillated about the member 127 so that the needle is oscillated in an arc which corresponds substantially with the path of the beak of the looper which rotates on a vertical axis. The needle-bar is reciprocated in the bearing sleeves by a crank 203 on the arm-shaft 13. A sleeve 210 locked to the needle bar by a screw 212 is mounted in the forked arms 208 formed on a pin 207 which is coupled to the crank pin 204 by a link 205. Specification 808,353 is referred to.
