Abstract

[Also in Group XXII] A magnetic core is made by winding strips 1, 2, 3 of uniform length about a circular arbour in succession, the beginning of each strip overlapping the end of the preceding strip as at 2, 3 in Fig. 1A, .deforming the core so made to the shape required to fit a coil leg, annealing the core, and then removing successive strips and reassembling them about the coil leg. The adjacent ends of successive strips may be locked together by the engagement of a projection 8 pressed from one strip, in a slot 7 cut in the other. To allow the coil to bend at its corners less sharply, the inner strips of the core may be made narrower than the outer strips, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown).
