624,137. Making transformer cores. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 20, 1947, No. 7701. Convention date, March 21, 1946. Drawings to Specification. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A rectangular magnetic core is made by winding magnetic strip into a ring round a mandrel, preferably with a paper or other spacer between the turns, cutting straight through the ring at one point, moving round some of the layers so that their gaps are staggered relative to those of other layers, forcing the wire into rectangular shape by driving a wedge between two blocks placed in the core window while a retaining band is fixed round the core, and annealing.
