621,704. Making magnetic cores. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Nov. 7, 1946, No. 33137. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1945. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A ring-shaped magnetic core comprising a number of segments 3 formed from flatwise bent laminations, with non-magnetic material between the segments, is made by cutting laminations of appropriate length from flat strip, fastening groups together by bolts 6 passed through holes in the laminations, assembling round a steel cylinder, pulling into shape with steel bands round the segments, and annealing. The shaped segments are then assembled round an insulating support 4 of the same dimensions as the steel cylinder, non- magnetic bands 5 tightened round the segments and welded at the ends 8, and the inter-segment material inserted in the air-gaps.
