Abstract
695,993. Making cores for dynamo-electric machines. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd., J. Feb. 18, 1952 [March 14, 1951], No. 6173/51. Class 83 (ii). An iron core for electro-magnetic apparatus, such as electromagnets, chokes, transformers, &c. is made from an iron sheet which is first corrugated as shown in Fig. 2 and then crushed to close the corrugations as shown in Fig. 3, thereby providing in one piece the equivalent of a multi-strip core. For making a core of substantially circular or oval cross-section the corrugations are made of gradually diminishing depth from the centre to the opposite ends of the sheet so that when crushed together they produce a core as shown in Fig. 4. When a framelike core is required the sheet is provided with slots or other apertures of appropriate size and shape.
