Abstract
753,651. Transformers. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 20, 1954 [Dec. 21, 1953], No. 36753/54. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXII] A magnetic shell core surrounding an annular winding 17, comprises wedge-shaped laminations each in two parts 1, 15 with abutting ends. Each part of a lamination may be made by bending a wire or narrow strip of grain orientated iron into a U-shape and flattening it until it has the shape whose elevation and plan are shown in Figs. 3, 4 respectively. With two sizes of lamination, part cores of three axial lengths may be constructed. The laminations may be glued together with paper between, the abutting surfaces then being ground. The winding leads 19 pass through an opening in the core. A fastening bolt 21 passes along the core axis. A slightly less efficient core may comprise laminations consisting of a U-shaped part with ends connected by a straight part.
