Abstract
360,202. Electromagnets; coils for dynamo - electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Glidden, E. G.; 34, Elder Street, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34209. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1929. [Class 35.] A spool body supporting a coil on the core structure of an electrical apparatus is provided with integral circumferentially projecting corrugations 16, Fig. 3, and an integral resilient flange 19, 20 at one or both ends for retaining the spool body in position against abutments. The spool body may be formed of sheet metal, bent to shape and the ends joined together. As shown applied to the pole of a dynamo-electric machine, Fig, 1, a coil 14 is wound on the spool body 15, insulation 17 being interposed. The corrugations 16 retain the coil in position intermediate the ends of the spool body. The flanges 20 rest on a shoulder of the polepiece and the flanges 19 conform to the circular shape of the frame 10 as the bolt 12 is tightened.
