Abstract

Magnetic instruments. -In a loud-speaker or like apparatus, a coil spool is provided with one, or two opposing, inwardly projecting lugs to which the armature is rigidly attached. The coil spool shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3 consists of two portions 15, 16 which clip on to end plates 23, 24 secured to the pole-pieces 19 - - 22 of a. permanent magnet 18. The armature 12, consisting of a rectangular plate of metal of low magnetic reluctance, is rigidly secured to the lugs 13, 14 of the spool portions 15, 16 which provide both a pivot and the restoring forces. The armature is connected by a rod 11 to a diaphragm 10. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5, the spool consists of a single portion with flanges 27, 28 for supporting the pole-pieces, and has a projecting portion 29 to which the armature 12 is attached. -
