Abstract

377,833. Loud-speakers. BURTON, C. F., Progress Works, Bernard Street, Walsall. Sept. 9, 1931, No. 25281. [Class 40 (iv).] Relates to loudspeaker movements of the vibrating reed type, in which a substantially rectangular magnetic circuit is provided, a permanent magnet forming the base, one side being formed as the electromagnet and core, and the armature forming a third side opposite the base. According to the invention, the armature is bent to form two parts at rightangles to one another, one of these parts being directly attached to the magnet base and forming the fourth side of the'magnetic circuit. In the construction shown, the armature 2 is an L-shaped sheet metal pressing, having the short limb 6, Fig. 5, tapering in width and secured by a flange 7 to the magnetic baseplate 1. The magnet core is made of two L-shaped pressed plates 8, placed back to back as shown in Fig. 4, the plates being locked together by a slotted plate 11 fitted thereon. The longer edges of the ends 8<1> of the'core plates lie parallel to the length of the limb 5 of the armature. Adjustment of the armature is made in known manner by means of a screw 14 acting on a spring 13.
