445,935. Loud-speakers. EVANS, A. S., 53, Maldon Road, Edmonton, London. Oct. 17, 1934, No. 29665. [Class 40 (iv)] In an electrical sound - reproducing device having two or more moving coils 5, 5<a>, 5<b> mounted in separate air gaps 4, 4<a>, 4b and individually associated with diaphragms 6, 6<a>, 6b having different sound - reproducing characteristics, the diaphragms are independently mounted on the magnet and the gaps are formed between the centre polepiece 2 and the body 1 of the magnet so that the coils are cut in series by the same lines of magnetic force in one and the same magnetic circuit. As shown, the gaps 4, 4<a>, 4b are formed between soft-iron rings 7, 7<a> mounted on the centre polepiece 2 by a non-magnetic support 8 and the polepieces 1, 2. One of the diaphragms may co-operate with a horn, Fig. 2 (not shown), and the coils with their associated diaphragms may be mounted at the opposite ends of the centre polepiece. In the latter case a horn associated with the smaller diaphragm may be formed by a shaped axial channel in the centre polepiece, Fig. 4 (not shown).
