Abstract

377,752. Loud - speakers. HEYUM, K. A. and MAGNAVOX (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd., 89, Kingsway, London. May 4,1931, No. 13118. [Class 40 (iv).] A moving coil loud-speaker is provided with a permanent magnet 5 consisting of a plate bent to M formation, the outer polepiece 4 consisting of a plate bridging the end extremities of the M whilst the cylindrical inner polepiece 3 is formed with an integral rectangular base 3a held against the centre apex of the M by a non-magnetic centring plate 8 carried by the outer polepiece. A metal strap 7 secures the magnet to the outer polepiece, which is carried by a sheet-metal frame 6 to the outer edge of which the periphery of a conical diaphragm 1 is clamped by an angle section ring 14 in which is mounted a felt ring 15 to enable the loud-speaker to be mounted against the usual baffle. The inner end of the cone 1 carries a coil 2 which is centred in the gap between the polepieces by means of a flexible element 9 secured to the coil former and to raised portions of a plate 10 rigidly mounted on the outer polepiece. The leads 11 from the coil are connected to a terminal support 12 mounted on the frame 6 across one of the openings 13 therein.
