Abstract
745,156. Drafting mechanism. TWEEDALES & SMALLEY (1920), Ltd. April 2, 1954 [April 17, 1953], No. 10535/53. Class 120 (2). In a textile drafting arrangement an arm carrying the upper rollers is pivoted at its rear about a bar fixed to the machine framework and is held in its working position by a link connected to a further bar mounted independently of and below the drafting rollers. As shown, the roller arm 1 is pivoted about a rear bar 3 and carries spring-loaded upper rollers 7. A link 17 pivots on a bar 9 and carries at its upper end, in an adjustable manner, a hook portion 19 which is adapted to engage a pin 21 mounted in the front of the arm 1. The link 17 is acted upon at its lower end by a torsion spring so as to urge it into its engaged position. Other embodiments show the link 17 having an adjustable stop member which engages in a detent in the arm 1 and also the link 17 pivoted to the arm 1 and engaging at its lower end a hooked shaped bracket adjustably mounted on the bar 9.
