Abstract

843,670. Combing machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Nov. 27, 1958 (Nov. 19, 1957], No. 36058/57. Class 120(1). Uncombed lap is advanced by feed rollers of a rectilinear combing machine either during the forward swing of the nippers toward the detaching rollers or on the return swing in order to suit feed roller timing to different fibre lengths. The feed roller (not shown) is mounted upon a shaft 16 which extends into a ratchet box 17 that encloses a ratchet wheel 18 fixed on the shaft 16 and carries a pawl 19 urged into engagement with the ratchet wheel 18 by a spring 20.. The ratchet box 17 is connected at 21 to a link 22 the other end of which is mounted on one or other of two spaced pivot studs 23, 24 carried by a stationary bracket 25 and situated above and below the axis of the shaft 16. The pivot studs 23, 24 are used as alternative anchorages for the link 22.
