Abstract

467,810. Combing-machines. NASMITH, J. W. March 4, 1937, No. 6393. [Class 120 (i)] In a rectilinear combing- machine for wool, a single continuous feed lap is produced by feeding at least three lap thicknesses of irregular length of which the internal lap is the longest, converting this internal lap into an external one in substitution of the first which runs out and feeding the end of a new and full internal lap between the external laps. As shown, the combined laps pass through rollers D, A being the internal lap. The lap C runs out first, lap A is then transferred to position C, a new lap mounted at A and its end inserted between the other laps. When lap B runs out, the remainder of the new lap at A is transferred to B, a new lap mounted at A and its end fed between the running laps from positions B and C.
