Abstract

856,369. Combing machines. RIETER & CIE A. G., J. J. May 30, 1958 [June 1, 1957], No. 17374/58. Class 120(1). The nipper plate 3 of a rectilinear combing machine is supported by pivots on cheeks 1, 2 fixed to the plate ends and on a single bracket 7 fixed at the mid-point of the rear edge of the plate. Plate 3 fits into recesses in the cheeks in which it may be secured by synthetic resin glue. Each cheek is pivoted at 26 to an arm 5, which supports adjacent ends of two nipper plates, and is itself pivoted about the comb shaft 4. Bracket 7 is pivoted to a rock arm 9. The upper nipper 13 is pivoted to cheeks 1, 2 on pins 14, 15. A spiral spring 40, Fig. 2, surrounds a hub 39 coaxial with each pin and its outer end presses a feed roller 23 into a recess 24 in the corresponding cheeks and closes the top of the recess.
