Abstract
1,135,241. Combing machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. 16 Nov., 1966 [6 Sept., 1965], No. 38008/65. Heading DIN. An arrangement for piecing up the combed tufts in a combing m/c comprises a pair of rollers 11, 12 rotatably mounted on levers pivoted on the same pivot on a plate 20 and a pair of detaching rollers 13, 14 the plate 20 being rocked by a cam arrangement, see Fig. 1, not shown, to move the rollers firstly to the position shown in Fig. 2, secondly to a position in which roller 12 engages and is driven by roller 14 and thirdly to a position in which roller 11 engages and is driven by roller 14. In Fig. 2 lap end 34 is being combed by the cylinder needles 35. In Fig. 3, not shown, roller 12 has been brought into engagement with roller 14 and rotated thereby to bring back the tail 31 of the combed lap. The nippers 32, 33 are moved forward to bring lap end 34, to the nip of rollers 13, 14. In Fig. 4, not shown, roller 11 is brought into engagement with roller 14 so that end'34 forwarded between rollers 13, 14 is fed between the nip of rollers 11, 14 and roller 12, rotated by roller 11, begins to feed the lap end 31 forwards between the nip of rollers 11, 12; thus lap ends 31 and 34 are superimposed and forwarded between rollers 11, 12. The nippers 31, 33 are closed and retracted to leave the newly comb tuft between rollers 13, 14. Finally plate 20 is moved to a position in which both rollers 11, 12, are out of contact with roller 14 and a further cycle begins.
