Abstract

1333101 Stop motions JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd 19 April 1971 [27 Feb 1970] 9666/70 Heading DID In a stop mechanism for a yarn twisting machine in which yarns 15, 16 to be twisted pass through a guide eye 18 to the nip between delivery and pressing rollers 1, 2 and thence back over the roller 2 to a pin 20 and then again through the nip to a cross-piece 12 extending between a pair of L-shaped members 3, and in which, in the event of yarn breakage, the loss of tension in the yarn passing over the cross-piece 12 allows the members 3 to turn clockwise about a pivot 4 so that the roller 2, of which the axle 7 is movable in guide tracks 8 in the members 3, is moved out of contact with the roller 1 and engages an abutment 22 to trap the yarn ends, the bracket 24, on which the members 3 are pivotally mounted, is adjustable horizontally so that the line of nip between the rollers may be brought near the highest point of the roller 1 for yarns requiring slight tension or away from the highest point, towards the pin 20, for yarns requiring higher tension. The adjustment may also provide for the nip to be taken beyond the highest point of the roller 1 so that the roller 2 tends to turn the members 3 anticlockwise to a position determined by a stop 35 to facilitate piecing-up yarn ends and starting. The adjustment is effected by movement of a bar 25 to which the bracket 24, or a number of such brackets, is secured, the bar carrying studs 26 engaging angled slots 28 in supports 30.
