Abstract

269,229. British Cotton Industry Research Association, Platt Bros. & Co., Ltd., and Oxley, A. E. Dec. 19, 1925. Sliver conductors. - Relates to high draft speed frames for drawing, twisting, and winding textile material, that is the machines following the drawing frame and up to and including the roying-frame, having normal roller stands of three sets of drawing rollers, and might even be applied to the ring frame or mule. A condensing trumpet or guide a is mounted between the back and middle rollers and a selvage guide e between the middle and front rollers, both guides being directly or indirectly connected with the traverse bar and arranged so as to raise the path of the sliver between the rollers above the plane of the nips of the rollers. The guides are detachable and are bevelled to fit in their supporting brackets b<2>, e<2>; they are set close to the nips of the rollers, and when very close setting is desired a suitable arrangement is that shown in Fig. 1 wherein the bracket b<2> is pivoted and pressed by a spring b<4>. The supporting brackets of the guides may be secured to the traverse bar d by means of a bracket c and the bracket e<2> may be supported by a prop arranged to slide on the roller beam, or an auxiliary traverse bar secured to the bar d may be provided for the brackets, the prop being then dispensd with.
