Abstract
712,753. Weighting and adjusting rollers. TWEEDALES & SMALLEY (1920), Ltd. March 10, 1952 [March 10, 1951], No. 5830/51. Class 120(2) A top roller assembly for spinning and other preparatory machines comprises an arm adjustably carried on a saddle for the top rollers which are situated behind the front top roller and a holding clip mounted on the arm for retaining the front top roller, the saddle being pivotable on a rod supported in the roller stand and retained in the operative position by a weighting appliance, the arrangement being such that when the weighting appliance has been released the top roller assembly can be hinged back complete with all the top rollers, or the entire unit can be lifted off the machine to facilitate cleaning. As shown, two rollers E and F are retained by a spring Q in the saddle D which has a U-shaped extension O embracing a rod P to form a pivot. The rod P is adjustably mounted on the roller stand S. An arm A is secured to the saddle D by a link G, K, J, the member G being adjustable in a slot H. A catch member L is pivoted at U to the arm A and carries the front top roller C in a spring retaining clip B. A hook catch M is pivoted at T to the catch L and connects with a link N to the lower end of which is connected a spring or lever loading mechanism. To disconnect the weighting appliance the catch L is rotated in a clockwise direction thus lowering the position of the pivot T, and when the pivot U engages the left hand end of the slot in the catch M continued rotation disconnects the catch M from the link N.
