Abstract
734,046. Knitting apparatus. FIBRA AKT.- GES. March 10, 1953, No. 6624/53. Class 74 (2). The pin bar 5 of a hand-operated knitting- apparatus is engaged at each end in a bracket having a recess 7 which prevents the bar turning under the influence of the pull of the yarn when drawn into loops by the hooks 3 of the apparatus. The bar is also locked in position by a pivoted latch 11 which engages over the end of the bar and is integral with an arm 9 and lug 10 which when the arm 9 is turned to release the latch 11 lifts the bar 5 from the bracket. The latch is normally retained in its unlocked position by a spring locking member 14 engaging. a recess in the arm 9 and in its locked position by a spring 15. The latch members at each end are connected by linkage so that operation of one simultaneously operates the other. In an alternative arrangement, a screw clamp 41, 43 at each end secures the bar in position and is provided with a cam 44 which engages a pivoted plate 49 to cause it to release and raise the bar. The screws of the clamp are similarly interconnected to ensure simultaneous operation.
