611,166. Finishing fabrics. DECK, P. April 24, 1946, No. 12322. Convention date, May 4, 1945. [Class 42(i)] A combined clip and pin link for tautening fabrics, as in a stenter chain, has a pin strip secured thereon below the working plane of the clip portion, a rotatable guard arm being provided which covers the pin strip when tautening by means of the clip, whereas, when the pins are used it is swung upwards and holds the movable clip arm out of contact with the clip plate. The pin strip 8 is secured to an arm projecting from the link 1, and a guard arm 12 is pivoted beneath it at 11. The guard arm has two parts, one of which 12a, exactly covers the pin strip when the clip is in use, while the other. 12b, extends further under the fabric a. When the pins are used and the guard arm is rotated, the portion 12b contacts a projection 14 on the movable clip arm 13, and holds the latter away from the clip plate 6. A spring leaf 16 acting on flats 17, 18, locks the guard arm 12 in one of these two positions. A control member 15 is provided for operation of the guard arm. either manually or by impinging against a suitable abutment.
