616,750. Counting-apparatus. SODECO SOC. DES COMPTEURS DE GENEVE. Sept. 11, 1946, No. 27314. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1945. [Class 106 (i)] A counter 2 comprising one or more notched cams 3 and a feeler member 5 associated with each cam and adapted to enter the notch to release a trip-mechanism 13 after a predetermined number of cycles of an apparatus operating the counter, is characterised in that means are provided to disengage each feeler member from its cam immediately the trip mechanism is released and by the trip mechanism itself in order to allow further unresisted operation of the counter. The counter 2 is driven in a reverse direction by a directly-driven counter 1 and is pre-set to the number of cycles required. When the cams 3 are all in their zero positions, a frame or lever 6 carrying the feeler rollers, discs or needles 5 rocks about its pivot to remove a pawl from a sprung trip arm 13 which then engages a stud 10 on the frame 6 and immediately rocks the latter so as to disengage the feeler members 5 from the cams. In a modification (not shown), the frame 6 rocks an independently pivoted pawl to release a bell-crank lever which is sufficiently spring-loaded to raise the frame against its own spring.
