[Class 52 (v)] [Also in Group VIII A stretcher for such garments as sweaters is made of wire and comprises a side member 1 formed of upper and lower members 2, 3 joined by a bracing arm 7 and having their ends formed into U-shaped stops 4, 5 respectively which are joined by a transverse arm 6. A corresponding side member 8 consists of a bracing member and upper and lower members 9, 10 having loops 11, 12 at their ends which are hingedly mounted on the memter 6 and pass between the U-shaped stops 4, 5 respectively so that the arm 8 may be limited in its swing about the transverse member 6 from a folded position parallel with the member 1 to a fully open position, Fig. 2. The arms 1 and 8 may be locked in the latter position by means of a hanging hook 17 slidably mounted on the arm 6 and having extending members 15, 16 which embrace the stop 4 when the hook 7 is in its topmost position. A body member 20 mounted on each side member comprises members 22, 21, the former being formed at its end with a closed loop 25 bent to be engageable in the grooves of a plate 18 mounted on the member 3 and indexed for different sized garments, and the latter having an open loop 24 adapted to pass over and slide on the member 3. The body members 19, 20 can be removed from the plates 18 onto the lower arms 3; 10 and loops 24 can be disconnected so that the members 19, 20 can be swung up and across the arm members when the stretcher is folded.
