804,454. Hooks. CRUSE, W. H., and CRUSE, H. A. Nov. 16, 1956 [Oct. 16, 1956], No. 31428/56. Class 89(2) A lifting-hook comprises a body 5 suspended by a swivellink 8 and having a lug 11 to which is pivoted an arm 10 adapted to engage, with its free-end, the point 6 of the body. The arm comprises a hollow-part 9 containing a plunger 13 urged by a spring 14 to engage a projection 16 on the point, to prevent accidental opening of the hook. The plunger is withdrawn by sliding a screw-head 15. In another arrangement, the arm comprises a rod pivoted to lug 11 and fitting within a tube slidable thereon, and spring-urged to engage the point.
