Wall, ceiling, partition, &c. structures comprising boards, metal or glass sheets, &c. attached to framing secured to a main structure have H-section strips made from resilient metal channels 15 secured back to back and forming cavities 18 with spring-urged jaws for receiving T-section strips 12 having stems with an offset portion 22 accommodated in the cavity, the cross-piece of the T strips being parallel to terminal flanges 24 of the H strip which are united to the web by an inclined portions 19 so that variations in thickness of boards 14 to be clamped between the flanges and the cross-piece may be permitted. Framing for a partition is built up by screwing an H strip to the floor with the web horizontal and securing further strips vertically to it by means of tags 28. Horizontal strips are secured to the tops of the verticals in the same way and the next row of verticals also erected. The gap between the opposed faces may be filled with glass wool &c. Steel door frames may be bolted to the frame or clipped into the cavities of the vertical strips. Skirting or cornice strips may be similarly held in position. The edges of sheet glass panels are embraced by U-section rubber. The cavity between the boards beneath an upper glass portion is hidden by clips bridging the gap; similar clips form the top of a short partition.
