Abstract

1,018,945. Partitions; structural members and joists. R. C. ROLLAND. May 6, 1964 [May 16, 1963], No. 19424/63. Headings E1K and E1V. [Also in Division F2] Partitions are formed from horizontallyspaced vertical frameworks comprising interconnected horizontal, e.g. 103a, and vertical, e.g. 101a, framing members, clad with facing panels, e.g. 104, the vertical members being forced upwards when in place into a position where they are wedged between the floor and the ceiling. As shown in Fig. 1, adjacent vertical members 101a and 101b are interconnected at each end, and forced upwards by wedge-shaped members 123a and 123b which are screwed together by a rod 125 having oppositely threaded ends. The panels may be hooked on to the vertical members via a two-part support bracket (Fig. 5, not shown), the lower part 128 of which sits in an elongate channel in member 101a, and is compressed and wedged in position by the upper hooked part 127, or they may be set directly into other elongate channels in the framing members (Fig. 4, not shown) with a protective resilient edge beading 129. The horizontal and vertical framing members are interconnected by a two-part wedging connector (Fig. 3, not shown) which is forced along the appropriate elongate channel in a horizontal frame member until it expands and grips the vertical framing member. Panel 105 has rebated horizontal edges for connection to a plinth panel 106, and a cornice 107. A sound-absorbing panel 108 is arranged between the facing panels.
