Abstract

1,170,492. Panels. SOC. ANON. DES USINES CHAUSSON. 24 Feb., 1967 [4 March, 1966], No. 9014/67. Heading E1B. A wall panel 1 has a reinforcing framework of horizontal, 4, and vertical, 2, channelsection metal members, with intermediate horizontal channel-section members, e.g. 4a, 4b arranged back-to-back, and core blocks 7 of cellular concrete, e.g. vermiculite, which are arranged side-by-side with a spacing in from the framework members, the framework and the core blocks being embedded in a foamed plastics material, e.g. foamed polyurethane, and then faced with facing sheets 11 (Fig. 2, not shown) of, e.g. metal. Several frameworks may be fitted together side-by-side to form a partition (Fig. 3, not shown) and a window opening, e.g., may be formed by extra channelsection members 2c, 15, all the members forming the window opening being formed with one flange of the channel extending backwards and forwards from the web to form a rabbet (see Fig. 1). The webs of the framework members 2, 4 have tags 8 punched out to form holes 6, the tags 8 locating the blocks 7. The blocks 7 also have holes 9 therethrough to improve the bond between the blocks and the foamed plastics.
